UK Picture Editors’ Guild Chairman, Alan Sparrow, said: “The past year has produced a wealth of stories at home and abroad – from sporting feats at Wimbledon, to legendary performances at Glastonbury. We’ve witnessed uprisings in Egypt, war in Syria and the birth of a very special royal baby. With such rich content to capture, we have seen another highly competitive year.
“The UK Picture Editors’ Guild Awards are the only awards of their kind to recognise and honour the talented professionals behind the lens, operating in the most dynamic and competitive media in the world.”
The winners, including the winner of the prestigious overall SABMiller Photographer of the Year Award, will be presented with their awards by Nigel Farage MEP at a glittering ceremony held at the Honourable Artillery Company, London, on November 4. Hosted by BBC journalist and presenter Kate Silverton, the UK Picture Editors’ Guild Awards recognise outstanding photography from the world of news, royalty, sport, business, fashion and entertainment. Winners will have their work displayed in the Guild’s biggest ever exhibition at the Museum of London Rotunda from November 6, as well as receive prizes from headline sponsor, SABMiller, and award sponsors: Bloomberg, BT, British Airways, Genesis Imaging Ltd., Getty Images, Nikon and OpenText.
