Opens Today! John Hassall: Illustrator and Poster Artist – by PAN reader Luci Gosling

If you are in London this weekend then here is a freshly walled real exhibition to visit on foot – John Hassall: Illustrator and Poster Artists at the fabulous Heath Robinson Museum, in Pinner London, which is reopening today!

The show has been put together by PAN reader Luci Gosling – private author and sales manager at Mary Evans Picture Library.
We caught up with Luci for more details on the show’s content:

Hi Will

This is a private project for me (and has nearly killed me!) but Mary Evans have loaned a couple of things for the exhibition, as have several Mary Evans contributors. For instance, Michael Diamond, whose theatre archive we represent, loaned ten posters, and we have a silhouette portrait of Hassall by the artist H. L. Oakley, lent by Oakley’s nephew, Jerry Rendell, whose Oakley collection we have too. So there are plenty of links.

The museum is a real gem. Only four years old, state of the art, and in a lovely position in Pinner Memorial Park and not too far from the tube if you can bear to venture to Zone 5.
They say it’s been the most challenging & complex they’ve done BUT it looks absolutely epic. I really hope you’ll all come and see it.

Luci

Luci’s book – below – accompanies the exhibition featuring lots of MEPL pics.
