New celebrity focused picture agency launches – Atlantic Images

Chris and Peter Whittle (above) who’s late father Brian founded UK based news agency Cavendish Press have launched their own agency this morning called Atlantic Images – a new transatlantic picture agency operating in the UK, USA and Canada.
Chris Whittle told PAN: “Atlantic Images will work directly with high-profile individuals, brands and creative media agencies providing them with PR, editorial and corporate imagery.
The agency intends to use clever branding and innovative product placement for clients while still maintaining editorial integrity. The team will target a wide variety of impactful media outlets with high-quality images and stories tailored to specific audiences. As a boutique agency, this attention to detail will set the company apart from its rivals.”

The Whittle brothers have been in the photo industry for 20 years starting as staff photographers for Cavendish Press in Manchester, Chris told PAN, “Our late father, Brian Whittle, founded the agency in 1979 and it’s still going today. You could say we proud to be following in his footsteps!” they then moved to Los Angeles in the early 2000’s to work for Gary Morgan at Splash News as staff photographers before going fully freelance in 2008. Chris says: “The dynamic of entertainment photography has changed dramatically over the last five years and we’ve been shooting more official events, PR assignments and photo shoots with brands and celebrities themselves.”

Chris and Peter have also worked in-house with leading event organisers, companies and their brands (photos above), such as the Academy Awards, Golden Globes, Simon Cowell’s Syco Entertainment production company, Sony Music Entertainment, AMC’s The Walking Dead, and most recently, J.K. Rowling’s digital publishing house Pottermore for the launch of her new book: Harry Potter and The Cursed Child.
Chris Whittle: “With a growing team of contributors, we recognise talented people as our most important asset. As photographers ourselves, we understand the hard work that goes into producing quality images and the mission is to simply make our content work harder.
“We have identified several emerging platforms which will better monetise content, these are areas that have proven difficult for other larger agencies to expand into. – One such platform is a consumer website called Celebrity WotNot that will position entertainment photography and stories from Atlantic Images in a positive and engaging way” …launching in a couple of months Chris tells us.

• Atlantic Images will be run from London and Vancouver, respectively, with a team based in Los Angeles and is completely separate from Cavendish Press.
