Korean TV channel KBS Television set up studio at Mary Evans Picture Library this week to film part of a documentary on volcanoes. Mary Evans’ Collections Manager, Tom Gillmor is seen being interviewed by Min-Jae Kim about an item of particular interest; a print from 1665 from “Mundus Subterraneus” by German Jesuit scholar Athanasius Kircher. Instead of just transmitting an image of the engraving, the television company was keen to use the specialist historical knowledge of the Mary Evans staff to add value to their programme.
