EVE’s Gallery welcomes the photography of Stuart Heydinger, an internationally renowned photo journalist whose work provides a record of some key moments in 20th century world history.
The photographs in this exhibition are part of a donation from Heydinger to Kingston Museum in Kingston upon Thames, where Heydinger was born in 1927. Heydinger’s work is distinctive in a number of ways; his use of unusual angles, his off-centre compositions and his sense of the ‘right moment’, all of which are enhanced by personal qualities of courage, respect and sensitivity.
Heydinger visited troubled regions and accompanied explorers, from the South Pole to Mount Etna. He experienced extremes of climate, landscape and human existence. Heydinger’s photography documents suffering and hardship with sensitivity, as well as providing unique insights into royal events and celebrity occasions.
Photographs in the exhibition by Stuart Heydinger are from TopFoto, The Observer, The Daily Telegraph, The Times.
