In a repeat of the inaugural presentation gala evening, the BBC broadcaster Kate Silverton will again host the Awards ceremony at the historic Honourable Artillery Company headquarters in the City of London this September.
A PICTURE OF SUCCESS – UK EDITORS’ AWARDS BUILD ON TRIUMPHANT START
The highly-acclaimed UK Picture Editors’ Guild Awards competition which launched last year returns for 2011 with additional prestigious sponsors and improved prize categories.
These awards are distinctive in that panels of judges consisting only of working picture editors from national and regional newspapers and international photo agencies assess the thousands of entries from professional photographers from throughout the media. Enthusiastic non-professionals also get an opportunity to have their work judged in their own category by the same top editors.

In 2010 the first-ever competition awarded thousands of pounds in prize money to the winners of eight categories with the overall accolade of SABMiller Photographer of the Year going to the Guardian’s Martin Argles . This year an extra category for Regional Photographer of the Year has been added.
Headline sponsors enabling the Guild to provide this unique opportunity to reward the very best in photo-journalism include SABMiller, the international brewer, telecom giant BT, British Airways, and Nikon, plus the media companies Bloomberg, Newscast, and Fotolia.
Entries for the 2011 Awards will be submitted via a dedicated website until the end of July with images taken between 17th July 2010 and 16th July this year eligible for the nine separate categories.
Amateur Photographer magazine has joined with the Guild to encourage readers to compete in the innovative BT Citizen Photographer of the Year section.
