Congrats to sports photographer Bob Martin -Photo Director at photo agency SilverHub Media- who won 1st place at the NPPA (The National Press Photographers Association in the U.S) Best of Photojournalism Awards in the US …for the second time, he won the same award in 2012.
Bob won the USA NPPA Best of Journalism Sports Photojournalist of the Year title with a portfolio of 24 pictures from 2016 featuring both the Olympics and the Paralympics in Rio.
A former staffer for Sports Illustrated, Martin worked for the magazine at the Summer Olympics and for the International Olympic Committee at the Paralympics. Martin had also covered a number events in Rio prior to the games, giving him a good sense of the locations and his working relationship with Sports Illustrated added a level of trust with his editors.
Bob Martin: “I produce a lot pictures with a sense of place.” What I like about working for Sports Illustrated is that they more or less allow me a free hand.”
