Cairo Divided is a unique text and photo essay by Guardian journalist Jack Shenker and Panos photographer Jason Larkin, who examine a city in the process of turning itself inside out. Jason used the Guardian printers but sponsored the publications himself. Jason says on his website: ‘For the last couple of months I’ve been busy turning the Cairo Divided story into a 32 page newspaper print publication, and finally it’s been printed and delivered, and I’m really chuffed with the results! The free publication combines 30 of my images from the series, and a 6000 word essay by Jack Shenker. Cairo Divided is also a dual language publication as all text has been translated into arabic’.
