PAN friend press photographer Jonathan Buckmaster the creator of the Facebook page Snapperweb -dedicated to press photographers in the UK- emailed me this report on another well organised and attended Christmas party.

Hi Will,

The party went very well this year and was held at the same venue as last year in the heart of Fleet Street. We raised a huge £2136.00 for the suicide prevention charity PAPYRUS. A lot of happy photographers went home with early Christmas presents this year thanks to the bumper haul of prizes kindly donated by generous donors including Canon, Nikon, Sony, Jessops, Olympus, Leica, Manfrotto and Edmond Terakopian amongst others. The party was attended by around 100 photographers who battled the elements and resisted the temptation to go to other works Christmas parties that evening in order to support this worthwhile cause and enjoy a catch up with fellow colleagues face to face. The annual Christmas party and raffle is a collaboration between the press photographers’ Facebook group ‘snapper web’ and the professional body for press photographers, theBPPA (the British Press Photographers Association)

If you missed the BPPA’s summer press photo exhibition this year don’t worry you can pick up a copy of their latest photo book here.
