Former Associated Press photographer Russell McPhedran has died after a heart-related illness. He was 82.
Rob Taggart, AP’s Director of Commercial Photo Operations, Europe, Middle East & Africa, who was a friend of Russ for many years: “Legend is a much over-used description but in Russell’s case it is very accurate. He was a complete professional who shared his knowledge happily as well as being the best bloke to be on a story with for laughter and fun – whether you were on his team or the competition. Russ touched many of us and left us better professionals but more importantly better humans. His legacy is his life’s work and so pleased he was honoured with entry into the Hall of Fame.”
