Shutterstock say their customers are increasingly looking to license aerial imagery to support their projects so the agency just signed a deal to match that demand with the largest global drone operations company DroneBase.
Based in Los Angeles DroneBase’s network of professional drone pilots will provide all kinds of high-quality aerial video content through a network of pilots in all 50 states and in over 70 countries including Australia, Austria, Bermuda, Canada, France, Hong Kong, Iceland, India, Indonesia, Italy, Jamaica, Malta, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, Tanzania, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

What’s the best way to keyword search drone footage at Shutterstock?
The best way to search for drone footage on our site is using the keyword “Drone” on shutterstock.com/video, you will receive over 380,000 results. You can always refine your search by adding additional keywords (e.g. drone city, flying clouds drone…) or using filter options to clarify the category, resolution, content, etc.
Will customers be able to request a drone commission shoot through Shutterstock?
This is not in our current agreement with DroneBase. However, Shutterstock Custom, is a new offering where customers can request on-brand custom content after filling out a short creative brief. Customers can leverage this offering to source aerial footage. This would not be part of a Shutterstock subscription, it would be a custom quoted project depending on the customer’s needs.
What is the most popular ‘subject’ request for drone footage?
Some of the most popular drone clips on our site contain keywords like forest, sea, ocean, skyline, and city. We are particularly excited about the addition of the DroneBase collection as it enhances our library with a diverse range of quality content.
How much will it cost to licence 20-seconds of drone footage for a business website – say a generic clip of a sea scene or forest scene?
