TRT World Citizen Short Film Competition opened for submissions on January 1st, 2019 and will accept films until May 31st 2019.
The World Citizen Short Film Competition provides a platform for filmmakers to explore global humanitarian issues from a unique and creative perspective. In our second year, the competition is being hosted as part of TRT World Citizen’s ‘Women of War’ Campaign, which highlights the situation faced by women in conflict zones. In war, women are frequently victims of systematic violence and oppression, but also serve as essential contributors to the peace process, and as leaders in rebuilding society after war. This year’s short film submissions will highlight the stories of these women, and engage our viewers with new perspectives of their lives, their struggles, and their strengths.
The 2019 Competition has been open for submissions for one month, and has already received over 500 short films from filmmakers around the globe. In 2018, the competition saw over 3,000 submissions from 110 countries, and we are anticipating a larger response this year. The winners of the competition will be officially announced at this year’s TRT World Citizen Awards.
TRT World Citizen is the philanthropic arm of TRT World, and the host of the 2019 World Citizen Short Film Competition.
