The Centre des Monuments Nationaux (CMN) has announced that part of its photographic collection is now be available today on the online image bank : www.Regards.monuments-nationaux.fr under an Open License.

As part of the French Government’s open data policy, Etalab, the mission is to open up as much public data as possible from state administrations and its public institutions, an intuitive called “Open License”.
To use an Open License image uploaded from the website, users will have to ensure that the author’s moral right is respected, including his or her paternity rights by stating his or her name and source by mentioning the CMN as follows: © name of the photographer / CMN or © Reproduction photographer’s name / CMN.
The 13,000 media files on Open License are high-definition = size: file 4000 x 6000 pixels / 300 dpi/ Jpeg.
Here’s how you access the material: ‘On the first visit to the site, users will be able to create an lO (Open License) account with their name, address and email. Because account validation is automatic, users will be able to download all images under Unlimited Open License in high definition (jpeg 4000-6000 pixels, 300dpi). Open License photographs may be used for both commercial and non-commercial purposes. As the photograph is sold out on a non-exclusive basis, the image can be used by any other third party.’
