This from the Mary Evans Picture Library:
‘We are very sad to announce that Robert Gillmor, one of Britain’s best-known wildlife artists, and father of our Head of Content Tom Gillmor, has died at the age of 85. Robert was a founder member of the Society of Wildlife Artists (SWLA) in 1964, and illustrated countless books, as well as creating the original drawing of an avocet for the RSPB logo. He was a keen ornithologist and resumed his love of making linocut prints following a move to Norfolk in 1998, receiving an MBE for services to art and conservation in 2015. His beautiful prints and paintings have been an inspiration to many.’
