The Mary Evans Picture Library in London has just added a superb set of images from the Grenville Collins Postcard Collection focused on the world of work and industry during the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
They say: ‘There’s a great scene inside a factory in the shoe-making centre of Northampton, a water diviner, a jolly commercial traveller (pictured), Scottish fisher girls gutting herrings caught off the Yorkshire Coast and Busher Mills, the New Forest’s very own celebrity snake catcher. If you’re considering a career change, perhaps you could pick up some ideas here?’
