This should be a great learning day! The archive team at Yorkshire and North East Film Archives in York, UK will be showing visitors how they preserve the moving image heritage of the region …you can even get hands on with some old cine film.
Graham Relton, Archive Manager at Yorkshire and North East Film Archive, told PAN: “As a small charity we are so grateful to our funders. In celebration of support from the National Lottery Heritage Fund and to say thank you to The National Lottery players we’re opening up the Yorkshire and North East Film Archives for visitors to get a rare opportunity to go behind the scenes. A 50 minute time slot on Friday 27th October will include:
• Meet the team!
• A tour of the archive
• Handling/splicing 16mm and 8mm film
• Viewing some of our analogue films on specialist equipment
• Viewing some of the digitised content in our collection
• Sneak preview of our brand new online exhibitions
