Finalists for the UK Picture Editors Guild awards have now been chosen, from an entry of over two thousand photographs submitted by more than five hundred press photographers.
The shortlisted photographers have been chosen by a panel of Judges chaired by the Sunday Express Picture Editor, Jane Sherwood “Having judged this competition twice now, it is always a privilege to see the exceptional standard of work that photographers produce in the UK and this year is no exception. Our industry can often seem beleaguered but the expertise of our Editors and Photographers illustrate that there is no lack of talent”.
Fellow judge Jon Mills of news agency South West News Service said
‘I think the PEG Awards is not only important for our industry but also a fitting way in which we, the picture editors, can reward and pay credit to the photographers whose skills and sacrifice are at the heart of what we do.’
The photographers competed in categories sponsored by Bloomberg, BT Christie’s, Fixation, Genesis, Getty, Nikon and British Airways for the ultimate prize which is the Nikon UK Press Photographer of the Year.
