BBC Worldwide has extended its international TV distribution agreement for the Virgin London Marathon, which was set to expire in 2015, ahead of Sportel Monaco 2012. The deal will see BBC Worldwide distribute coverage of the event for a further three years, up to and including the 2018 event.
The 2012 Virgin London Marathon was licensed to 196 territories, with new licensees transmitting the event for the first time including Central American channel ESPN Sur and pan-Middle Eastern broadcaster OSN. Other licensees set to broadcast the 33rd London Marathon, which takes place on Sunday 21st April 2013, include CCTV-5 in China, SuperSport in South Africa, Globosat in Brazil and Sky Network in New Zealand.
