BBC Worldwide has licensed the live broadcast rights from Royal Ascot to three new broadcasters, Channel Seven Australia, beIN Sport France and Eurosport Asia. This takes the total licensed territories to 91 with live feeds going to CBC Canada, RAI Italy and NHK Japan.
Danny O’Toole, Head of Sport at BBC Worldwide says “Royal Ascot is the richest race meeting in Europe, so it’s fantastic that we’ve found three great new homes for it in Channel Seven, beIN Sport and Eurosport Asia. Royal Ascot is already a major television event for our global partners, and an important part of our racing event catalogue, along with the Betfair Weekend King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes and the QIPCO British Champions Day.”
Nick Smith, Head of Communications & International Racing at Royal Ascot commented “With approaching 300,000 people attending every year, Royal Ascot is Britain’s biggest flat race meeting. We are very pleased to be working with BBC Worldwide to bring the event to even bigger audiences all over the world.”
