Magnum Photos, the leading photographic agency, is seeking a Content Director in London. This is a senior role working to lead the creation of new projects and content by Magnum’s photographers. It will involve both creative judgement across all genres of photography with a particular emphasis on documentary journalism and the necessary commercial skills to work with clients and sponsors to generate revenues.
The successful candidate will be expected to work as part of a team with counterparts in New York and Paris. This Content group will report to the Executive Director of Magnum Photos. The role will include working closely with the Magnum community of photographers in developing ideas and projects, editing, managing staff and budgets, developing close relationships with clients and potential sponsors of work. It will also have a strong emphasis on placing work as part of Magnum’s growth in the digital marketplace.
Magnum will celebrate its 70th anniversary in 2017. This role will play a central part in developing and building on the great traditions of the agency but in a world of changing opportunities. It will be challenging but a chance to be a part of the long term future of Magnum. Candidates need to show a strong interest in photography but not necessarily have a professional background in it. A background and experience in journalism is essential.
