Job: Head of IT and Digital – Mary Evans Picture Library

Mary Evans Picture Library is looking for a new Head of IT and Digital to replace Mark Braund who is moving on after 25 years in the role.
We are looking for an exceptional all-rounder to look after our websites and in-house systems so we can continue to compete with the mega-corporations that now dominate our industry.
This is a 100% hands-on job. We are a small business with just six employees. You will lead a team of one: you. You will involve yourself in everything from desktop support to web development to business strategy.
You will work closely with our Managing Director, Finance Manager and staff responsible for sales and content to ensure they have the data, analysis and reports they require. With them you will identify and specify enhancements to our systems to constantly improve workflow and efficiency. You will also contribute to brainstorming sessions so we can continue to match our competitors’ innovations on a fraction of the budget.
Your typical day might include: database management, running emailshots, preparing image updates for agents, building new modules for our website and back office systems, hardware troubleshooting and data security.
You will be equally happy working alone or as part of the team, and you’ll have no problem taking full responsibility for ensuring our systems suffer minimal downtime.
We run Windows desktops and Linux servers.
You will have skills and experience in the following:

Essential (and to a high level):
• Building websites with PHP/MYSQL
• Javascript
• Linux
• Excel
• Data Analysis
• Database design
• Photoshop

Desirable (or the ability and willingness to quickly learn):
• Nginx
• Exim
• Samba
• IPTC
• e-Commerce
• MS-DOS
• Microsoft Office
• A love of history, cinema and pictures

Salary: Negotiable.
Location: Our office, currently in south-east London. Hybrid negotiable.
Hours: Full time (negotiable) with flexible working.
