Intellectual Property & Brand Licensing Officer
Full-time, 40 hours per week
£31,000 per annum

Site and Home based, initially 2 days onsite per week
The National Portrait Gallery houses a unique collection of all forms of portraiture of the people who have made or are currently contributing to British history and culture; the collection is the most comprehensive of its kind in the world. With around 2 million visitors each year prior to temporary closure for the Inspiring People project and a strong national and international presence through touring exhibitions and special projects, the Gallery is one of the country’s most important and popular galleries.
The Gallery generates an important part of its own running costs from a variety of commercial activities and has developed a high profile Rights & Images function, which comprises brand and image licensing and Intellectual Property (“IP”) expertise.
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our Rights & Images team as Intellectual Property & Brand Licensing Officer. Reporting to the Picture Library Manager, the post holder is responsible for the management of IP information throughout the Gallery, offering IP advice, training and support to colleagues, and working with the external brand licensing agent, leads and develops the Gallery’s Brand licensing programme to maximise revenue for the Gallery.
The successful candidate will be a highly organised, creative individual with demonstrable experience and success in an IP/copyright or licensing role, ideally within the cultural and heritage sector.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded self-starter to work for one of the country’s most important and popular galleries, assisting in the generation of vital income.
