19th century photographer Charles Marville ‘lost Paris’ available to licence


Woodstock, New York based photo library The Image Works are online with 776 license-ready images from French photographer Charles Marville (1813–1879). They say: ‘Marville was commissioned by the city of Paris to document the picturesque, medieval streets of old Paris that were slated for demolition. ‘The result is photos of a lost Paris’. His work is currently on exhibit at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. The Image Works is proud to have a comprehesive collection of the photos of Charles Marville.’
