World Press Photo is now accepting entries for the 2012 contest for the best multimedia storytelling in visual journalism. The contest is open for photographers, publications and multimedia producers to enter their work to be judged by an international, nine-member jury of experts.
The deadline for registration and uploading submissions is 25 January 2012, 23.59 CET. Participants who have already registered for the Photo Contest also need to register separately if they wish to enter work in the Multimedia Contest.
The World Press Photo multimedia contest accepts online or offline linear productions with a journalistic storyline. Each multimedia entry must include professional still photography in combination with (but not limited to) audio and visual elements such as video, animation, graphics, illustrations, sound and text. Productions entered into the contest may not be longer than 20 minutes. The productions must be completed or first published in 2011. The work will be judged on their impact as well as their production and content.
The awards – There will be three productions awarded at the 2012 Multimedia Contest. Each winning team will be recognized with a Golden Eye Award and a certificate. In addition, the team awarded the first prize will receive a cash prize of €5,000. A representative of each of the winning production teams will be invited to Amsterdam to attend the 2012 Awards Days weekend on 20 and 21 April and will receive the awards at the Awards Ceremony on Saturday 21 April.
