Interesting move here from newswire service AAP in Australia. Having gone non-profit they are now looking to raise $500,000 through crowdfunding.
Earlier this year NewsCorp and Nine announced their intention to shut down AAP, but in June a group of philanthropists and impact investors stepped in to keep it alive. AAP is now operated as a not for profit company dedicated to delivering fast, fact-based journalism to keep the Australian media market diverse.
Update: News Corp in Australia have launched their own in-house newswire service called NCA Newswire (a working title)….more when we have it.
