Launched by photo agency Alamy in Feb 2014 (see the PAN report) the Stockimo photo uploading app is to close.
PAN note – What Stockimo did: Users are able to upload and tag their iPhone photos. Uploads are reviewed by photo experts before going on sale on Alamy and through its established global sales and distribution network.
Alamy say on the closure: ‘Over the last few months we’ve been reviewing performance of the Stockimo app and thinking about future plans for ingesting mobile phone photography and we’ve come to the difficult decision to retire the app.’
‘Currently it’s not possible to upload mobile phone photography direct to Alamy. We believe there’s a bright future for mobile phone photography on Alamy and we’re currently exploring alternative options for uploading this content. We’re hopeful we can migrate the Stockimo community onto an alternative Alamy environment.’
