Congratulations to Ardea, one of the UK’s leading wildlife, pet and environment picture libraries, for reaching their golden anniversary this year.
A year of celebrations for this milestone in Ardea’s history will begin at fotofringe 2018 on 17thApril. At 11am a special anniversary cake will be cut and shared out on a first come, first served basis, and all visitors to the Ardea stand will get an Ardea 50thanniversary gift as a memento. They’re keeping what that is as a surprise at the moment but will be suggesting people close their eyes and have a feel! But they assure us, it’s not a cuddly toy or a real-life Koala!
PAN Library Facts: Started in 1968 by Sue Gooders, it was later taken over by her daughter Sophie and then in 2014 moved to its current home at Mary Evans Picture Library. From very humble beginnings representing mostly bird photographers (the name Ardea comes from the latin for heron in case you are interested!) it has grown to be a global agency representing photographers the world over and selling to a worldwide client base. From just images of birds, Ardea now covers not just wildlife, pets and environmental images but also stunning landscapes, scenics and travel imagery as well as its in-house designed creative collection of pets for merchandising.
