Some very sad news reached me over the weekend. Austin Brown (Aussie) the owner of stock photo library Aviation Pictures passed away suddenly on the 11 May near his home in Spain. He was 67 years old.
Aussie often sent me Aviation Pictures update emails and we shared a few long Skype calls over the last couple of years. He was always full of enthusiasm for the industry and the work he was continuously doing to improve and market his stock photos.
Here is the note I received from Mark Wagner on behalf of Austin’s family.
Austin J Brown sad news
It is with deepest regret that I am writing to tell you of the passing of Austin J Brown on Sunday 11 May 2014.
Despite appearing well, Aussi went for a walk in Cabopino (a beautiful small port on the coast of Southern Spain) but collapsed on the pavement just before midday.
Some people around immediately tried CPR and called an ambulance. When the ambulance arrived the paramedics did everything they could but to no avail.
A funeral service is planned for 2pm on Friday 23rd May 2014 at Marlow Methodist Church, Spittal Street, Marlow, Buckinghamshire SL7 3HJ and afterwards at White Waltham Aerodrome – West London Aero Club clubhouse, near Maidenhead, Berkshire SL6 3NJ. All friends are very welcome.
The family have requested no flowers but donations can be made to a memorial fund to be set up which will go towards a good cause in Austin’s name.
