Photo shows one of photographer Tjaart van Staden images used on the front cover of a recent Bradt Guide
This in from Gwyn Headley at UK based photo agency fotoLibra.
Hello Will,
Sad news: one of our top photographers [Tjaart van Staden] has died in a microlight plane crash in Kenya.
Here is the notice in the agency’s newsletter: Readers of the fotoLibra Pro Blog may remember our hunt for a MIssing Member in February this year. We sold a fabulous picture to the renowned Bradt Guides for a front cover picture, but then found the photographer had gone missing. No reply to letters, emails, phone calls, nothing. So we posted the blog, and as a result he resurfaced and collected his due reward. Everyone was happy.
But now we have been told tragic news — Tjaart was killed on September 29th, his 50th birthday, when the two-seater microlight aircraft he had hired to photograph a titanium mine in southern Kenya crashed on take-off. Our deep sympathy goes out to his family and friends.
