Getty Images celebrates 10 years of photo grants with five grants of $10,000 each

Photo agency Getty Images is celebrating the 10-year anniversary of its grants programme this year by offering five grants of $10,000 each, awarded to photojournalists pursuing projects of personal and journalistic significance. In 2014, five grants of $10,000 each will be awarded to photojournalists pursuing projects of personal and journalistic significance.

They say: ‘At Getty Images, we believe that photojournalism is a powerful tool for telling compelling social, political and cultural stories. We also understand that creating and managing world-class photography assignments requires time, freedom, support and considerable resources.’
‘Inspired by our partnership with Lean In, an additional $10,000 grant will be awarded to a photographer whose project is focused on an important but under-told story about women or girls achieving positive results in their communities or personal lives.’

This year’s judges include:

• David Furst, International Picture Editor, The New York Times

• Teru Kuwayama, Photo Community Manager, Facebook

• Sarah Leen, Director of Photography, National Geographic Magazine

• Jean-Francois Leroy, Director General, Visa pour l’Image
