Verbatim is the name for the new photo agency being launched by Getty Images to replace the photo assignments part of the Getty Reportage department.
A spokesperson at Getty Images told PhotoArchiveNews.com this afternoon: Getty Images is launching a new subsidiary and venture dedicated to commercial assignments, Verbatim, in October 2016. The launch of Verbatim is a response to the shifting editorial landscape and the opportunity Getty Images has identified within the commercial market for its roster of talented photojournalists. Getty Images Reportage is still very much an integral part of the wider Getty Images business, through syndication and archival distribution, and through this remarkable editorial work, alongside the Getty Images Grants programme, Getty Images’ passionate support for the photojournalism industry continues.
