European Pressphoto Agency (epa) has appointed Sebastian van Beek as the new Director of Business Development.
Van Beek (60) will take over on May 1, 2021 and help structure the new Business Development department in epa. Based at epa HQ in The Hague, Van Beek will bring to epa over 30 years of experience in the picture and media industry and help reshape the business in line with President & CEO Julia R. Arévalo’s strategy and vision.
• Van Beek started his career in the 80’s as the Managing Director and Co-owner of Benelux Press/Fotostock, later to become the Director of Photography of epa’s shareholder Algemeen Nederlands Persbureau (ANP), a position he held from 2002 to 2008.
• He owned Hillcreek Pictures from 2005 to 2012 and held the position of CEO of Hollandse Hoogte, one of the leading photo agencies in the Netherlands, from 2013 until he sold the company and returned to ANP as the Director of Photography in 2018.
Sebastian told PAN this morning: “Epa is gearing up for a new and very exciting positioning in the tight media and photo industry worldwide. And given the exceptional high standard of news photography and videography, epa deserves a stronger position in this industry”.
