Industry People: Splash ex-staff reunion

29 June 2024: Ex-Splashers reunite at The Crown Tavern, London.

In the planning since being announced in February ex-Splash photo agency staff got together for a reunion in London at the weekend.

The organisers sent PAN the photo above (snapped by the bar staff) and this report:
‘Despite competing against Glastonbury, the Euros and London Pride, ex colleagues from Splash News and Pictures gathered in Clerkenwell near the old Splash London office to reminisce and catch up. At one point they had offices in London, Los Angeles, New York, Miami, Rome and Sydney employing around 300 staff and as many as 3000 regular contributors. Regrets were sent from ex-staff who’d since moved on from as far and wide as Whitby, Italy and Scotland and of course California.

Ex-staff from the old London and NYC and LA offices who’d been at Splash as early as 2001, attended including a couple who met at Splash and married 16 years ago. Lots of stories, catching up on current times and laughs were shared. So much so they hope to do it again around Christmas this year.

The event was held in The Crown Tavern, where Lenin and Stalin held a meeting in 1905 and where in 2011 Kevin Smith and Gary Morgan, original owners, signed the paperwork to sell Splash to Corbis, a former company owned by Bill Gates which was eventually sold to Unity Glory International, an affiliate of Visual China Group.
