Great use of AI here to engage existing customers and improve search returns – German news agency dpa has launched the newest version of their News Hub – now full AI powered.
The core of the innovation is a specially developed AI research assistant that works like an answer machine and only accesses dpa information. Together with the current dpa news feed as well as personalised desks, curated top topics and a feedback channel to the editorial team, the new application becomes a personal newsroom for all media professionals.
For more efficiency in everyday editorial work, the dpa News Hub now offers five essential features:
- Newsfeed: All content, all formats
The complete dpa news offering in one clear feed. Filtering by department, service or format. Related content for each message, saved searches and notifications make working on a topic easier. (The scope of dpa content depends on the media company’s respective contract.)
- AI Research Assistant: The Answer Machine (Beta)
No more searching for keywords and scrolling through hit lists. Simply ask a question and get an AI-supported summary of the dpa reporting. You can delve deeper into the topic directly via linked sources.
- Desk: Personal news selection
With customizable desks, different content can be viewed in one window. Breaking news, photo service, state services or your own full-text searches.
- CvD view: All top topics at a glance
The most important topics of the day – collected and curated by the dpa. Likewise, departments and state services as well as overarching topics such as climate reporting.
- Messenger: The direct line to the dpa editorial team.
“Together with our partner You.com, we have created a tool that makes working with dpa texts much easier,” says Astrid Maier, deputy editor-in-chief of the dpa and head of strategy. “Instead of long link lists with individual articles, the AI research
assistant provides concrete answers in the form of quick summaries that are based on current dpa reporting and our archive
material – as well as additional references to the original articles. A journalistic answer machine that accesses one hundred
percent reliable sources.”
