Here at PAN we are keeping an eye the growth and use of fake news images – software companies and departments at news organisations are all experimenting with verification.
One new verification tool caught our eye last week – Image Whisperer v1.0 and it’s out of beta! ‘Upload a suspicious photo and it instantly checks against a global database of debunked images, updated daily. If your photo matches a known fake, it shows you the debunk. It also has a ton of new features to detect photos that are not in that database.’ Try it here.
