Magnum Photos held their 65th anniversary celebration and general meeting in France last weekend and concluded by announcing three new photographers on their books, Bieke Depoorter, Jérome Sessini, and Zoe Strauss as nominees.

In an effort to establish a Magnum Foundation in France, the photographers announced the creation of an endowment fund. This new organization will be the sister to the Magnum Foundation in the United States, which was founded in 2008 with the aim of supporting independent documentary photographic production in the historical tradition of Magnum Photos. Both foundations will espouse these basic objectives:
– To preserve the archives of those photographers who have endowed the Magnum Foundation with an estate.
– To protect the copyright of all photographers working with the Magnum Foundation.
– To promote photographers’ work through all outlets including, but not limited to, books and exhibitions.
– To make work produced by the Magnum Foundation accessible to researchers and historians.
