As part of the inaugural Guildford Festival of the Arts PAN friend, freelance documentary photographer, John Walmsley will be exhibiting images and chatting through his 1973 photo project shooting at the Salisbury Playhouse where he spent six weeks living and working alongside the company photographing how they put on a play (Mother Courage).
• The exhibition opens on Tuesday 23rd September, 2025, and runs until Saturday 11th October.
Talk details: On Saturday 27th September from 10am to 12 midday, I’ll be in the café for a free ‘Meet the Photographer’ session. Just turn up, grab a drink, and chat about shooting this project or any of the others I’ve done: A S Neill’s democratic school, Summerhill, shooting in Special Needs situations, street photography, English traditional customs, self-publishing zines, protecting your copyright and what to do if someone uses your work without asking or paying.
