The Mega Agency announces two new editorial hires

 

The Mega Agency has boosted its editorial team with the hiring of picture editor Darren Banks and journalist Gavin Wilson.

Gavin (photo right) joins the agency’s UK team, and will help co-ordinate and grow news and photographic coverage across Europe. He previously worked for Splash News, spending ten years in New York, latterly as Chief Reporter, and four years in London, where he held the positions of European News Editor and  Partnerships Executive, working with photographers, clients and European partner agencies. Gavin is an expert in sourcing content for the global news market, as well as building and maintaining relationships to grow and develop and market business internationally. Gavin said: “I’m delighted to be joining The Mega team – many of whom I have worked with previously – as they look to the future to create a new agency that puts photographers and contributors first.”

Darren (photo left) joins as head of Mega’s LA picture desk. He is another former Splash employee, having worked as a photographer and then picture editor in the agency’s LA office for 12 years. He previously worked for Big Pictures and a news and photographic agency in Scotland. Darren said: ‘It’s great to be working with a new team where everyone is so passionate about the industry.  “I was attracted by their exciting plans, technological advances and vision for the future.”

Mega founder Kevin Smith told PAN: “It’s great to boost our ranks with two professionals  with so much experience and understanding of the agency world. I’ve worked with Darren and Gavin in the past and am delighted they’ve joined the Mega revolution.”
