This week PAN spotted a smart website revamp from UK freelance press photographer Tim Ireland – the new design shows off his portfolios well while offering a clear route to contacting him, including a EU tel number! …everything a photo editor requires!
Tim told PAN about his thought process while putting the new site together: ‘Selecting the pictures takes a long time and is never finished! Pictures which I like now, I may not like in a year, and pictures I took a decade ago, which I was unsatisfied with on the day, I may think are useful after the passage of years. I sometimes spend some time in the PA and AP archives to remind myself.’
‘For the events work I have to show broad events coverage in different styles with as few images as possible. I still wish to cut the edit further. Some images from my press career which I am fully pleased with (very few, perhaps 6) I don’t include; I have to think about attracting clients, not showing my sentimental favourites. I may only be happy with them because I remember the circumstances under which they were made.’
‘Over 20 years I have become a bit of an all-rounder. Having moved to Lithuania, and splitting my time between here and the UK, I hope to attract news and features work in the Baltics, while developing my events, business portraits and hospitality work in London. I especially enjoy shooting corporate events and conferences because it seems my press experience translates well.’
