Photographer Eamonn McCabe on ‘Decade’

‘What makes a good photograph?’ asks Eamonn McCabe, as he talks through his experience of being a photographer, picture editor at The Guardian and his latest project. McCabe has answered that question with the book Decade. A tomb of 500 of the best photographs selected from the first ten years of the twenty-first century. ‘There’s some wit in there, there’s some warmth, there’s some style — and all the big moments from this decade are in it,’ explains McCabe when Phaidon.com caught up with him at his studio in London. ‘Interestingly, because of digital developments, when I was compiling this photography book, I didn’t actually touch a single photograph.’
