Paul Fearn the military photographer/owner of photo library Piemags will be onboard a Piper PA-44 Seminole plane to photo record a commemorative flight which will recognise the technical skill, ingenuity and courage of those who conceived, planned and conducted the Dam Busters mission which took place on On 16 May 1943.
Paul told PAN: “As you all know, I hold dear to my heart the guys who took part in the Dambusters Raid during WW2 and my life long hero has been their commanding officer Guy Gibson.
I had the best birthday present earlier today when Simon Shackell and Jason invited me to take part and fly with them on a commemorative flight to recognise the technical skill, ingenuity and courage of those who conceived, planned and conducted the mission, probably the greatest air raid of the war, also raising money for the Royal British Legion.
I’ll be the photographer on the flight and I’ll try to capture the history, bravery and skill as well as the sites and sounds of what the crews went through in their training and the actual attack.”
Full details and to support the flight are on the Royal British Legion site here …and follow the flight here.
