PAN reader Cheryl Yates of Newspix in Australia writes: “In Australia we have lost a much admired industry co-worker. Dion Stead passed away quietly at the family home in Lisarow Australia on 29 December, 2010. Well know in the industry for his business acumen, photo research skills and sense of humour, he will be missed. He started his career with Picture Media, from there he worked with the Newspix team helping to establish the brand. In 2006 Dion moved to Melbourne to take over the role of Business Development Manager at Lonely Planet, a much loved position where he excelled. Dion returned to Sydney and acted as a consultant for many local stock photos agencies, his wealth of industry knowledge was much sought after. He also returned to TAFE studies to pursue his passion of photography.
Dion Stead did have some UK connections when working with Newspix he liaised with our NI offices and during his time at Lonely Planet he of course was in contact with the Lonely Planet London and Oakland offices.”
