Sir Harold Evans, probably the most respected living newpaperman, is to present the prizes for this year’s UK Picture Editors’ Guild Awards.
Sir Harold wrote the defining work on photo-journalism during his tenure as the campaigning editor of the Sunday Times . His book Pictures On A Page remains the ‘Bible’ for picture editors on both sides of the Atlantic. With his equally successful wife Tina Brown he is now based in New York and since June this year has been Editor-at-large for Reuters news agency.
Guild chairman Alan Sparrow said: ?It is a tremendous honour to have Sir Harold at the event. He will give a speech during the Awards ceremony in addition to presenting the prizes and you can be sure that every word he says will be worth listening to ? he represents the pinnacle of photo-journalism.?
