Ready for licensing – Sky News have a major video tape digitisation project underway and report 1989 is ready!
They say: ‘While you might be looking ahead to 2020 and a new decade, in the Sky News Archive, we’re looking back. Back into our archive, that is, as the digitisation of our tape archive is well underway. Our goal: to preserve our content and provide an easily accessible, searchable database of Sky News’ considerable collection of global news footage. We’ve completed our 1989 collection and it’s been a treat to go back 30 years, marvel at big hair, bigger phones and celebs who astonishingly haven’t changed much over the past three decades. We’re on track to have 1990 digitised within the next week and are currently going through our footage of coalition forces gearing up for war against Iraq in response to Iraq’s invasion of Kuwait. Clip Sales is the footage licensing division of Sky. We license Sky News, Sky Sports and Sky Entertainment clips for commercial use and have thousands of hours’ worth of license ready content. ‘
