Celebrity photo agency Splash News are opening a Sydney office on the 12th June. They say: “Our offices in Sydney will be a fully functioning bureau, both generating content locally and selling Splash pictures, video and stories to the local media and New Zealand.”
Splash veteran Tom McShane has moved to Sydney from the London office to head up sales. And Rob Henderson, re joins the agency and reporter Grant Hodgson is backed by staff photographers Mike Emory, Guillaume Gros and Brendan Beckett.
This is not a new start for Splash in Australia the agency having already made headlines there with a set of pictures (above) of Australian cricket sensation Shane Warne jetting into Los Angeles for a tryst with Liz Hurley which sold for a record sale locally.
They say: “The intelligence on that story started with Splash staff in Sydney, and was executed masterfully by Splash reporters, videographers and photographers in Los Angeles. The Sydney locals followed up with a cracking set on Shane’s vengeful wife Simone and her own date with a new hunk.”
Splash founder Kevin Smith told Photoarchivenews.com: ‘Splash has been encouraged to open in Sydney for years, both by the clients and by photographers. The time was right.’
