Support: Mark Braund – Mary Evans IT manager – 1st London Marathon

UPDATE: Congratulations to Mark Braund, who completed Sunday’s London Marathon in 4 hours and 47 minutes to raise money for Anthony Nolan, the charity which arranges stem cell transplants for people suffering from life-threatening blood cancers.

Blackheath-based Mary Evans Picture Library is delighted, if a little concerned, to announce that their IT Manager, Mark Braund, will be running the London Marathon this coming Sunday, 13th April. Despite his mature years, this is Mark’s first marathon, and while his colleagues at the library have high hopes that he will be giving Mo Farah, another marathon debutante, a run for his money, Mark is being a little guarded about his target time, promising only that he will complete the 26.2 mile course from Blackheath to The Mall before it gets dark.

Mark told us “For years I’ve watched the start of the London marathon on Blackheath, just a stone’s throw from Mary Evans Picture Library, so I’m delighted finally to be running it, and raising money to support the life-saving work of Anthony Nolan, the charity which arranges stem cell transplants for people with life-threatening blood cancers.”
