Craig Holmes, the owner at UK photo library The Picture Pantry has started a new business – ‘Greyscales’ a photographic print studio. He sent PAN a sample print – the packaging is great and the print superb! …and the rate card is reasonable.
Craig explained the new service: “After learning to print in the darkroom as a press photographer in the 1990’s, I have continuously printed images for clients. After a period outsourcing printing to a pro lab, I decided last year to bring the whole process back in house, and effectively invest in setting up our own professional print studio – not only on the latest high end Canon wide format printers, but also in a purpose build studio. So, Greyscales was born.”
“We have continued our policy of producing photographs for clients requiring the highest quality prints – either for display, or so clients can sell their images. The final prints are produced with Hahnemuhle papers to create a museum quality print that should last several lifetimes”

We also had PAN reader, retired media lawyer Charlie Swan – now an ’emerging’ bird photographer – run a test, here’s what he sent us: “I’ve been looking for a printer for a business I’m starting selling prints of my bird photographs. Will put me in touch with Craig who produced a fantastic print of one of my images in beautiful packaging. Craig has also been very helpful on technical and business points. My search for a printer is over.“
