UK based specialist photo agency Writer Pictures is a new contributing partner to AP Images. Under the arrangement, Writer Pictures will distribute their images via the AP Images website to users and AP customers globally.
“We’re excited to work with what is one of the most unique and relevant collections in the business right now,” AP Images Director of International Business Development James Claydon said. “Writer Pictures brings a fantastic resource of not just bestselling authors but playwrights and up-and-coming talent from the world of literature, as well as a phenomenal archive adding to the wealth of entertainment-related content that makes AP Images a key destination for media buyers.”
Writer Pictures was set up in 2004 by Alex Hewitt and Graham Jepson who spotted a gap in the market for good quality, colour images of writers. In the years since its launch, Writer Pictures has built a very respectable database of tens of thousands of author images and supplies all UK national newspapers with images on a daily basis. Writer Pictures is also trusted internationally to source and shoot pictures for magazines, publishers and the authors themselves. Writer Pictures also covers prominent literary events such as the Booker, Costa and Orange Prizes plus many literary festivals. They have offices in London and Edinburgh and a network of photographers throughout the UK, the USA and France.
Alex Hewitt – see PhotoArchiveNews.com Interview Aug 2011 told us this morning: “We’re delighted to say the least. The AP platform will take Writer Pictures work into territories we just don’t have the manpower to reach and AP get some of the best and most up to date literary portraiture available today to increase their pictorial representation of the cultural scene around the world.
