ArcticPhoto agency closes – after more than 50 years photographing in the Polar Regions

This from the owners of stock photo library ArcticPhoto – Bryan & Cherry Alexander.

Arcticphoto is Pulling Down The Shutters

On the 30th of November, after more than 50 years photographing in the Polar Regions, Bryan & Cherry Alexander will be closing their ‘Arcticphoto’ archive and stepping back from the stock photo business.

The copyright of all the images in their polar archive has been purchased by a university museum in the USA. (more details on this will follow soon PAN is told!)

Bryan & Cherry would like to take this opportunity to thank the many picture researchers, photo editors and others who over many years have sourced images for their projects from Arcticphoto.

UPDATED 14 Nov 2025:
‘Arcticphoto’, Bryan & Cherry Alexander’s photo archive which specialises in the Polar Regions is leaving the UK for a new home at the Peary-MacMillan Arctic Museum & Center for Arctic Studies at Bowdoin College in Maine (USA). This unique collection of photographs is the result of the 76 trips that Bryan has made to the Arctic over the past 54 years. It focusses on traditional life in indigenous communities around the circumpolar polar north during a period of great change. Its move to Maine ensures that this remarkable photographic archive will be preserved for future generations.
