Clarification for Olympic entries
Closing date for still photographic and video entries: midnight Sunday November 27th 2016
Hundreds of photographers have now entered the UK Picture Editors Guild awards in Association with Shutterstock ensuring a challenge for the judges who will begin their task next week.
Just to clarify for photographers who attended the Olympics in Brazil. Pictures from the Olympics can be entered into any category, news or essay for instance but NOT Sport.
The Olympic category is for a one off entry of your best Olympic photograph. We appreciate this is challenging to choose the one image that defines the Olympics but we hope that you enjoy the challenge

The challenge is on to find the best picture from this year’s Olympics in Rio. The UK Picture Editors Guild committee has decided to add an extra category to their 2016 awards – The UK Picture Editors’ Guild Awards.
The category ‘Best Olympic Picture’ is challenging for photographers because it is for one picture only. Only one picture can be submitted the entry will not allow for multiple choices. The committee also stressed that pictures from the Olympics in Rio are not valid in the Getty Sports Photographer of the Year Category.
There is a £500 prize for Olympic Photographer of the Year category and the winner of this category will go forward as in other categories to be considered for the Shutterstock Press Photographer of the Year title.
